Do these countdowns work on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets?

Yes, our countdowns are mobile-friendly. They also look sharp on high-resolution screens. Most countdown styles that use images send those screens a double-resolution version, and our email countdown images are made at double resolution too.

Can I use these countdowns in an SSL (HTTPS) page or on an e-commerce site?

Our countdowns are delivered over SSL by default and won't cause any problems on secure pages. The countdown runs inside an iframe, and the browser keeps code inside an iframe separate from your page. Some embed codes also add a small script to your page: inline styles in the older editor, evergreen countdowns and redirect at zero.

Will these countdown clocks work in my website

We give you a really simple HTML snippet called an iframe to paste into your site. It's the same as embedding a YouTube video. If you have a way to edit your site content then you can probably add our countdowns to your pages. Below is a list of just a few of the systems that can embed our countdowns.

Can I embed a countdown in Canva?

Yes, in designs and Canva websites that are viewed online. In the Canva editor, open Apps, choose Embed, and paste your countdown's share link. If Canva shows a still preview image instead of a countdown made in the new editor, paste the address from inside src="..." in your embed code instead. For countdowns made in the older editor, use the share link. A downloaded image, PDF or video can't show a ticking countdown.

Can I count up from a date in the past instead of down to a date in the future?

Sure. Just look for the control on the Countdown Editor page labeled 'Count Up'. Select that, and then from the normal date picker, pick a date in the past.

Do these countdowns work in all browsers?

Our countdowns work in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on computers, phones and tablets. The countdown is a small page with a short script that keeps the time ticking, so JavaScript must be turned on in the visitor's browser. Very old browsers such as Internet Explorer are not supported.

Is there a limit on how many countdowns I can make?

No. There is no limit on how many countdowns you make or on how many times they are viewed, on free or paid plans. You can change your countdowns as often as you like.

What if a visitor's device clock is wrong?

Countdowns made in the new editor check the time with our server when they load, so a phone or computer with its clock set wrong still shows the right time left.

Can I hide the countdown or send visitors to another page when it reaches zero?

Yes, in the full version of the new editor. Open Ending to show a message, play a celebration, hide the countdown, hide its buttons, or redirect visitors to another web address when the countdown reaches zero. Hiding and redirecting are only available on countdowns that don't repeat. On your own website the redirect needs embed code copied after you turn it on, and a site that blocks inline scripts must allow the script in the embed code.

Can each visitor get their own countdown?

Yes. An evergreen countdown starts when a visitor first sees it and runs for the time you set. In the full version of the new editor, set Countdown mode to Evergreen (per-visitor). Evergreen countdowns are free and show the CountingDownTo badge unless you are on a Pro plan. Everyone on the same network, such as one office or household, shares one countdown.

What is Honest Deadlines?

A Pro feature that gives each email subscriber their own deadline. Your Kit or MailerLite automation starts it when someone joins, or it starts on their first click of your tracking link (this works with Kajabi and other platforms). Once a subscriber's deadline has started, the email countdown image, the tracking link and your CountingDownTo page all show the same deadline. During a very large send, some opens may show a general countdown image for a few minutes, while the tracking link and your page still show each subscriber's own deadline. When the deadline passes, the page shows your ending or sends visitors elsewhere. We keep a one-way keyed hash of each subscriber's address, not the address.

Which email platforms work with Honest Deadlines?

Kit and MailerLite can start deadlines when someone joins a list (MailerLite needs a plan with automation webhooks). Any platform that can put the subscriber's email address in a link, including Kajabi, can start deadlines on first click. The deadline shows on your CountingDownTo page; a countdown embedded on your own website does not yet show each subscriber's personal deadline.

Can people add my event to their calendar?

Yes, for countdowns made in the new editor. The share page has Add to calendar links for Google Calendar and for Apple Calendar, Outlook and other calendar apps. The links do not appear on evergreen countdowns or after a one-off countdown has ended.

Do the email countdowns work in all email clients?

Our email countdowns are animated GIF images, so they display in almost all email apps. Some email apps, including the Outlook desktop app, show only the first frame, so the countdown looks paused. The image shows the time left at the moment it is loaded. Some email apps load images in advance or keep a saved copy. Apple Mail, for example, can load them when the message arrives, so the countdown can show an earlier time than when the email is read. Put the date and time in the text of your email as well. The email code we give you includes a line with the date and a link unless you turn it off.

How do I cancel my monthly subscription?

You can cancel at any time by following these steps.

3. Click "My subscriptions"
4. Click your order
5. Click "Cancel...", then "I understand, cancel my subscription"

I purchased an account but my coundown is still displaying the countingdownto.com badge? How do I fix this?

Please ensure you're logged in when creating your countdown. To check, click the account icon (the person icon) in the top-right. When you are logged in, the menu shows your email address. After you purchase an account you should no longer see our badge on any of your countdowns. Occasionally though, if you created a countdown before you registered our system is unable to determine that you created that countdown so the badge does not get removed when you purchase an account. If this is the case simply create a new countdown. Evergreen countdowns are an exception: they keep the badge unless you are on a Pro plan.

How can I display my countdown on Facebook?

Facebook is very restrictive on what types of content you may add. The simplest solution is to create your countdown then either embed it in your own website or click "Share" to embed it in a page on our website. Once you've published your countdown on another site you can link to it from Facebook. Some people have been successful using Facebook's live video streaming features along with screen capture software to display their countdown on Facebook. This is an advanced technique.
